Team Notes:

The defending champion Wolf Packers have decided not to keep Peyton Manning for such an absurd amount of money. GM Wilson has made the decision "to move in another direction that enables the organization to remain a championship caliber ball club". We wish Peyton success in his commercial career.

MEDIA DAYS:
Q1. Who is your franchise player on Van Kirk's Bronson?
I haven't decided on a franchise player as of now. I think I will have one in mind at the end of the year but my guys are too young to be talking about a franchise player as of yet.

Q2. How big of a fluke was last season?
I don't think it was a fluke at all. I came to the draft as one of the most prepared owners and it showed. My draft was so strong I didn't have to do much during the regular season, just make the proper updates. I think some of the more tenured owners did a poor job in getting their staff ready for the draft. Fortunately for me, it showed during the season and I won a bunch of games.

Q3. Who are you leaning towards keeping for the upcoming season?
Rodgers, Ryan, Welker, Bowe and McGahee. If i don't trade one of the qb's away early i might hang on to both of them for awhile.

Q4. Everyone loves to wake up Tuesday morning and see a W by their team name. Which opponent do you enjoy defeating the most?
I would say the most exciting W came during the playoff's with a win at Arsenal. It always feels good to know off a guy that only lost once during the regular season, however. I do enjoy beating "those Biloxi Boys".

Q5. Will your team's budget be increased this season? (Mini-helmet purchases, more fantasy magazine purchases, customized Fat Heads, team logo coozies, etc)
I believe after such a strong first season we have created some Bronson Maniac's! Season tickets sold out in 72 hours! Due to this and the playoff money coming in our budget will increase significantly. We are looking at putting a massive aquarium full of frogs in the north end zone this season. I think it will be fun for the kids to enjoy during the games. We are also looking into selling pet frogs and all of the proceeds will go to the SchrollKirk foundation. The foundation is intended to help normal guys recover from a night spent with plus sizers. We provide them with papa johns pizza, diet Pepsi, as well as reimbursing them cab fare home from the morning after. I think this will in turn will give the Bronson's a more universal fan base.

Q6. Will you finish in the money this season?
That's tough to say, there are some very good teams in the league but I like my chances.

Trade Announcements

Moss to Arsenal; Linguists look to the future

ATLANTA-- Two familiar rivals and trade partners struck a deal via email conversation once again today. Aikman's Arsenal receives the rights to Randy Moss ($50, 2009 salary) in exchange for the right to Brandon Marshall ($23, 2009 salary) and Tim Hightower ($6, 2009 salary).

"We feel that our team is built to win now, and that Randy Moss will elevate this team to an even higher level. The trio of Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson and Randy Moss will be feared by all Gurus.", said Aikman's Arsenal owner Michael Hegarty. A statement was just released by Cunning Linguists owner, Cory Pittman, "The CL's appreciate Randy Moss and everything he has done for the franchise. We regretfully had to make this move to clear a little cap room, but are very excited about the prospects of Brandon Marshall and Tim Hightower. They will bring much needed leadership to a team that suffered through some adversity last season, and we look forward to each of them being a long tenured piece of the CL family.”

The deal is still pending awaiting league approval from Gridiron Guru owners; they will have the normal 48 hours to debate.

GGW Take: Wow, what a bold move by the Arsenal. $148 invested in 5 players, but the trio of WR will almost be a 30 point guarantee a week. Any injuries will prove detriment to another Arsenal title run. Don't sleep on the Linguists! Coach Pittman got arguably two starters and gained $21 in cap space with this deal. A great move by both teams!

Dog with rubber bone

This years preseason BMOTW is a no brainer, and goes to Van Kirk’s Bronson. Do I even need to go in to why keeping Willis McGahee at $32 is a bad call? I don’t, but I will. Just because someone garnered major street cred in college does not mean they will translate in to a quality pro, especially after 5 seasons of proving otherwise (see: “Vince Young”, see: “Peter Warrick”, see “Auburn Running Backs” for more info) Editor's Note: See Robert Edwards, Danny Ware, Thomas Brown, Kregg Lumpkin, etc.. Keeping McGahee at $32 is giving respect of the utmost degree where it is completely undeserved. It’s the equivalent of seeing Christian Slater in a bar and sending him drinks with the justification that, “He was “nasty” in Hard Rain“.

A perennial fantasy football bust, McGahee is valued in most pre-draft auctions between $1 and $2. He ran for 600 yards last year, with a plummet in carries per game, rushing yards per carry, receiving yards per game, receptions per game, and receiving yards per game. He did however show strong increases in fumble percentage and child support payments.

Things you could buy with the $32:

1) A great #2 wideout, with enough money for a good backup QB

2) Adrian Peterson’s left side

3) 2 Tombstone pizzas and 30 wings

4) Spackle, roller, drop cloth, and a can of paint for “drunken outburst ramifications” after WM puts up 30 yrds on 15 carries for the 3rd week in a row
